Shift thru the Fear to get what you Want...

Some of you that are my fellow Peloton fans already know that I am a big Robin Arzon fan…

One of her many motivational lines is “ You have to want it more than you fear it”…
It is such a powerful statement and can pertain to so many individuals in all aspects…
I think we can actually take it further with “You have to want it more than you fear the discomfort of it”…
I often share how most of our work in the therapy realm is retraining our minds…to believe we can tolerate not having control or accept some level of discomfort.
This can be seen when:
  •  an individual conquers their anxiety of dating by putting themselves out there despite the disappointment or frustration that might occur
  • an individual tolerates their discomfort of not having certainty with decisions they make for themselves or their children
  • an individual chooses to accept all aspects of themselves even if its not up to what society or they define as perfection
  • an individual tolerates guilt and discomfort and chooses to prioritize their wellbeing by attending therapy, eating nutritionally, exercising, or taking even 10 mins to focus on their own needs
This list could go on and on..Actually we all demonstrated this by figuring a way to maintain joy and have some level of peace despite our fear of all the uncertainty and frustration around us during these last 6 months..
So – as a new season approaches I hope we all can and work to combat fears of discomfort by asking ourselves how much we want the outcome on the other side!
