Emily Sanders, LPC Serving

Emily Sanders, LPC

Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey and Virginia with over 15 years of experience. She is passionate about creating an affirming, welcoming space where clients feel safe to explore challenges, build resilience, and experience meaningful healing. Emily specializes in the treatment of trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, disordered eating, addictions, maternal mental health, and life transitions. She approaches therapy with compassion, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique story and lived experience. She warmly welcomes individuals of all identities and backgrounds and has a strong background and interest in working with clients in the LGBTQIA+ community.

As a trauma-informed therapist, Emily recognizes that healing is not one-size-fits-all. She takes a collaborative and individualized approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs, strengths and goals. Emily believes lasting change occurs through engaging both the mind and the body, and she integrates an eclectic blend of “bottom-up” and “top-down” approaches. Her work draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work, EMDR, somatic interventions, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, alongside cognitive and skills-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

At the heart of Emily’s work is the belief that a safe and secure therapeutic relationship is essential for meaningful and lasting change. She is deeply committed to ongoing professional growth and advanced clinical training. Emily holds a Level 1 certificate in advanced trauma treatment, completed advanced clinical training in maternal mental health, and is an EMDR trained therapist.
