Connecting within to Connect with Others

The holidays

With the holidays upon us and the call for social gatherings here, many of us collide with the feelings of negligence and loneliness. Idealized in tv, movies, books, social media, and even with those we know, is the version of the perfect family and friendship, or relationship. Now more than ever, many individuals are coming to terms with the separation and solitude they might feel from society and ultimately, themselves. Whether it is parenthood, moving to a new area, entering a new school, or just deciding you need someone to talk to, trying to fit in can seem like a jarring task resulting in isolation.

Hustle and bustle

With the hustle and bustle of life and the spinning circles of social media, we sometimes lose ourselves. We forget to be mindful of who we are, our wants, and needs. We focus on so much around us and the anxieties that consume us. Pausing and practicing mindfulness helps us to take a step back and breathe while rediscovering who we truly you are and what we want.

Ask yourself:

What excites you? What do you tend to avoid? What are your values? What type of social situations energize you or drain you?

Try:

Creating a post on social media attracting like minded individuals seeking friendships, take yourself on a lunch or coffee date and give the restaurant a review on how YOU felt. Join a beginners’ class in YOUR area of interest

As we identify more with who we are then we are better equipped to attract others with similar values and connections are naturally built.
